| FREE Editing Proposal |
|
| |
We provide FREE Editing Proposals. All you have to do is:
- Email us 2 or 3 sample chapters (in Microsoft Word format, if possible) as an attachment.
- Let us know the word count of your manuscript. To determine the word count in Microsoft Word, simply click on “Tools” in the task bar at the top of your screen, then “Word Count.”
- Let us know the number of pages in your manuscript and whether they are double or single-spaced.
- Let us know your budget constraints. We promise to provide excellent
value for your editing dollar.
Upon receipt of this information, we will promptly review your material and email you an Editing Proposal that will include:
- Our fee for editing and a brief description of
the type and degree of editing we recommend, i.e.,
Proofreading, Copy Editing, Substantive Editing, Rewriting,
etc. We will list all applicable categories, and you
can choose which ones best fit your requirements and
budget.
- Our assurance that no matter what changes we make
to your manuscript, your style, tone, and voice will
be enhanced—never compromised!
If you agree to the terms of our Editing Proposal, we
will ask for a downpayment of at least 50% of the total
fee, with the balance owing when the editing is complete.
Methods of Payment: Credit Card (via secure online Paypal site); wire transfer through your bank or Western Union; company cheques, money orders or bank drafts (Canadian residents only).
Please ask us for details.
Once we receive payment, we will schedule your project and advise you of the estimated completion date. You may then email your entire manuscript to us. We will begin editing at the scheduled time and return the revised manuscript to you via email when the editing is complete. Please note that all our editing is done online. We do not require paper copies of your manuscript.
We will provide you with periodic updates as to our progress. We will also contact you if we have specific questions or concerns. |
|
| Copy Editing |
| |
All manuscripts submitted to us for editing will be checked for grammar, punctuation, and spelling. |
|
| Substantive Editing |
| |
The majority of manuscripts submitted to us will require some substantive editing to improve readability, clarity, continuity, and flow. This may mean:
- Adding, deleting, or changing words, phrases, or sentences (Minor substantive editing), and/or
- Organizing and/or formatting, e.g., spacing, indentations; rearranging and/or changing paragraphs and their contents; creating chapters or sections, chapter titles, headings; etc. (Major substantive editing.)
|
|
| Rewriting |
| |
To improve clarity and readability, it may be necessary for us to rewrite portions of a manuscript. If this is the case, we will list our recommendations in the Editing Proposal. As always, we will ensure that the author’s style, tone and voice remain intact. |
|
| Proofreading |
| |
All manuscripts submitted to Sea Breeze Productions for editing are spellchecked and proofread before being returned to the author. As a safeguard, however, we highly recommend that authors thoroughly review their manuscripts before submitting them to a publisher. |
|
Manuscript Evaluation |
| |
Cost: $175 - $550 for
manuscripts up to 300 pages (12 point font, double-spaced, 1-inch margins) |
| |
You’ve just finished writing your short story, novel, or children’s book, and you’re wondering if you should self-publish or send it to a publisher. To assist you with your decision, we can evaluate your work and give you our honest, expert opinion, as well as suggestions for improvement.
In our detailed, written explanation, we’ll let you know:
- Whether or not your manuscript is complete as is, or if it needs some “tweaking” before it’s ready to go to the next stage;
- What steps, if any, you’ll need to take to enhance the quality of your manuscript. This could mean something as simple as adding a prologue or chapter titles. Or it may mean that more work needs to be done on the plot, storyline, or character development;
- All the things we think you did well! In addition to providing constructive feedback, we’ll point out what worked and what we especially liked about your writing.
To obtain a written evaluation, please email us and attach your manuscript. |
